In this episode of Gatehouse Insights for Gatehouse Legal Recruitment, I speak with Salvatore Malatesta, the founder and owner of the St Ali Family, a privately owned group of cafes, retailers and specialty coffee roaster founded and based in Melbourne.
There are so many people fronting on social media these days that they are an entrepreneur, so it’s rare to find an entrepreneur that is the real deal. And that is why I love this episode of Gatehouse Insights so much.
Salv began hustling in the coffee industry in 1993, starting his first café while studying Arts/Law at The University of Melbourne.
After a brief stint as a lawyer, Salv turned his entire focus to entrepreneurial endeavours, owning 88 businesses, in industries such as fashion, travel, IT and construction.
Here’s what we talk about in this episode of Gatehouse Insights:
— The ‘work-play divide’ myth.
— Entrepreneurship and who really is the real deal.
— Why practicing law was not for Salv.
— Facing the hurdles and challenges from family and friends.
— The realities of business.
